I finally got these puppies finished. The shells were buggers to paint, but I enjoyed posing the same figues in different vignettes at least! I'm actually rather happy with these...:
These look great Drax - particularly those shells! As a matter of interest, are the colours real-world, or just random? Did you use any reference material for them? (I'm not an artilleryman, but I'm planning to do something similar with my Palladian artillery crew and give them colour coded shells). Very nice, they'll keep Jerry's head down!
This is really good. I've read a few tutorials about how one should paint their action figures and it's very tricky. I am glad that this project of your turned out great. I'll keep visiting for more of your posts.
I am really more forward the 40K more stuff. This really looks good and very detailed in every view. I have to agree that looking at the colors make it more real. Painting these tiny figures isn't as easy as it seems and also to be able to make a successful one you must know a lot about how to prepare it and also you should know about paints and brushes.

ReplyDeleteWow those look ace mate. The work on the shells is especially good.
ReplyDeleteCan only hope my 3" mortar platoon looks half as good.
Thanks, chaps.
ReplyDeleteScipio, I did look up the shells, and that was the best idea I got of them I think it's correct for HE shells - at least, it's my version of them.
I've just checked, actually, and it looks like the nose cones should be brass...oh well: I'm not alering it now.
I used to be a gunner: do a quick search for "155 artillery shell colors" or the same with "105..." and a few ideas'll become apparent.
Admiral - are you just firing inert training ammo at the Boche ?
ReplyDeletebtw, more VHS boxes on the way !
