648 - The Tools of My Trade

Jesus wept!

- Some of these are over twenty years old!

Oh, and I just caught the Handsome Cat drinking my sodding paint water:

301 Old Stuff Day

Hullo, All!

It's March 2nd - it's Old Stuff Day...the brainchild of Warhammer 39999.

Less activity over the past year, so I'll only include a couple, but posing the whole army together last weekend (Post 300) did make me think a lot about my old stuff. As with many modellers, the first stuff that you collect is often the coolest. However, 10 years ago, when I started to get back into the hobby and to build what has now become the behemoth of my sprawling Guard army, my painting was not good.

Nor did Tallarn Flesh and Devlan Mud exist.

So, my 1st platoon is badly painted; my 2nd platoon are okay, and my 3rd platoon look like humans and even have hand-painted aquilas!

Either way, I thought my first offering would be my now-almost-obsolete Command Squad. Pale, pasty, blobby and gloss-varnished...but at least the flag looks okay:

Secondly, someone else who could use a splash of Devlan Mud - Captain Stephenson ...also known as Stephenson's Horse; with his converted weapon:

Next, one of my favourite (and rarely seen) conversions - the Wyvern ...as it happens, it seemed to spawn a series of other bloggers playing with the slung-back design (usually better than me) and this one now tends to be fielded as the chassis for my converted Hydra:

And finally, some of you may enjoy my short treatise on the demise of the Imperial Guard vox:

Thanks again, 39999!

251 Old Stuff Day

What a marevllous idea: all kudos to Warhammer 39,999!
I decided to go for a couple of my very first posts, as they predate most of my readership...but looking back on them, they really are dreadfully dull! [Skip to number four if you want stuff that's actually quite good]:

1) My first post with a photo: http://admiraldrax.blogspot.com/2008/05/003-introducing-1-platoon.html

2) And I enjoyed the pics in this one: http://admiraldrax.blogspot.com/2008/05/007-salamander-and-hellhounds.html

3) And that most unusual thing: a Draxian painting tutorial! http://admiraldrax.blogspot.com/2008/09/040-painting-dpm-camouflage.html

Here are the three modelling projects I'm most proud of though, I think:

4) Me...in model form: http://admiraldrax.blogspot.com/2008/12/074-me-after-fashion.html (please note - he's shown based and finished at the foot of this post here.)

5) The 24th's objective marker (and banner, thanks to Suneokun's awesomeness): http://admiraldrax.blogspot.com/2010/01/181-sweet-objective-marker.html

6) My wheeled salamander conversion: most fun to build imaginable: http://admiraldrax.blogspot.com/2010/11/235-converted-ifvsalamander-finished.html

Cheers to all my readers, old and new, and especially to W39,999!
