259 More Fuel for the Pyre

Hi, All.

Continuing my Easter holiday painting efforts, I ploughed through the last of my special weapons guardsmen for my redesigned light company. Just the second lot of autocannon to paint now then the company's finished. Again.

I thought I'd include a couple of close-ups, as I was very happy with how the faces turned out on these chaps (and yes, I know there are mold lines. I've hundreds of the buggers, and I'm not going for any painting prizes!):

Cheers,

- Drax.

  1. Very nice mate, would you like to come and paint the many Praetorian's I have left to do?

  2. Nice work! I have always appreciated the fact that you use multiple skin tones across your infantry, it's little details like that which make your army really stand out - Can't wait to see what's next!

  3. Looking good mate, it won't be long until you've completed the lot. What do you think you are going to do then? A different army, expand your guard?

  5. I am learning to me peril that there are always more Guard units you can add :)

  6. Thanks, Chaps.

    >Commissar Dave: No. (Thanks, though!)

    >Mordian: Autocannon section, then...maybe the spare chimera?

    >Mel: see Karitas's point(!). Seriously though? Dunno. I have some tau which are loitering in the background, and on whom I refuse to spend money...and a few WFB units to paint up...but I think I'm going to flog my WFB stuff once painted. Very tempted with things like Gav Thorpe's new 'Cutlass' game (by Black Scopion).

    >Karitas: Cheers. That second face is better than the pic portrays, but it's all very simply down to nothing but base coat (eg: Tallarn Flesh) white bits round the eyes, brown pupils and a wash of Devlan Mud. I'm just slowly getting better at it!

  9. hey man did you know you left the mould-lines?

    ;)

I'm amazed you painted the eyes. Your line infantry get better eyes than my best painted special characters hahah.

I love flamers. best special weapons ever. looks good mate.

  10. I'm also tempted by the cutlass game, well the models, the game might not cover ship to ship combat so i might have to do some game design myself. but the pirates and naval soldiers look awesome.

its definately a future gaming project.

models are looking great mate. i'm jealous of your time youve had to spend on them lol, i'm gonna sit down with my guys this week even if it kills me!
