463 - Oh Hell, Yes.

Played X-Wing.

What a game!

This is the scene just as my last ship (a 'Headhunter') bit the space-dust. Sweet.

Quickly-made asteroids by moi; everything else belongs to a colleague*.

Oh sweet, unbounded joy!

- D.

*That's right: a colleague...and thus the prospect of more regular games...

  2. Nice mat. Where is it from? X-wing is fun. Easy to get other people in to as well. Glad you have some local people to play with. Other teachers?

    1. Oooh, I'll have to ask where it's from. Yes, he's another teacher, so naturally we'll never actually have any time to play...

    2. I'm a teacher too so I feel your pain. Haven't had any time to paint this last 2 weeks. X-wing is nice as it is so quick to set up and play with so little prep (no painting). My opponent recently added a few new ships and it opens up the game a bit more.

    1. Such a beautiful (albeit not quite flawless) mechanic...

  4. Nice looking asteroids. X-Wing is a cool game, and it seems to draw in a lot of people who aren't otherwise gamers.

    1. Thanks! I'll be getting some better (flying) bases for them, but I managed to crank out 10 of them start-to-finish in an hour!

  5. Good to see you playing.... anything. :)

Whilst X-Wing looks and sounds fun, I'm going to be far more interested in Starwras Armada when it's released. Star Destroyers man, Star Destroyers.

  6. Fantastic stuff - and lovely asteroids to boot ;) You'd recommend it then? I've been toying with getting X-Wing for a while, and decided to wait till they released the B-Wing (it's just so cool, well I think so). Now they have I've got no excuse

    1. Oh, it's every bit as great as everyone says, mate: just brilliant!

My colleague jumped in with both feet and bought the starter set, the mat and two extra ships for each faction, but I've been advised time and again that buying two starter sets is a great way in: that way you get six ships (2 rebel and 4 imperial) so you can have even more fun straight away (as well as useful duplicates of eveything).

Actually, the way we were thinking of getting into it was to buy 2 starter sets between three of us - it'd be only about £15 each that way: a stupidly cheap buy-in to a great game!

I will be getting myself a starter set straight after payday (that is, about 1 minute past midnight on Thursday morning...).

  7. Ive been sorely tempted by this game myself.

My very own slave-1 .. somehow that's quite appealing.

    1. Oh, it's quite delightful in its deceptive ease and simplicity...

    1. Easy, Tiger!

As it happens (as Zzzzzz, Kaaritas and Col. Gravis would attest) I struggle quite significantly to side with anyone other than the 'goodies'.

The trouble is, just who ARE the goodies, eh?

I suppose every TIE pilot has a mother too, right?
