025 Victory is Mine!

Ha-ha!

Against almost insurmountable termporal odds, I've managed to finish my heavy bolter squad at last! This is just a taster to prove I'm still alive and painting: the normal, full entry will follow anon...

  1. Well well. So you HAVE been working... well I have too. I hope to get up early and take some photos in the morning and post an update. Good to see you are still at it, and I like the hvy bolter teams!

  2. Jeez, aren't those mould lines dreadful? - I know I should care more, but when I've so many Guardsmen to get through, the details on these models just ceases to matter quite so much. Mind you, the hands on the hvy wpn teams' gunners are pretty ropey.

  3. Well don't look too close at the pics on my page. I've found the best way to spot mould lines isn't with a bright light, magnifying glass, or divining rod. It's to completely paint it then take a picture!

  4. Perhaps they all just share remarkably similar scars along the back of their hands... some sort of team bonding exercise perhaps?

    The figures look great, though.

  5. @ anon:

Thanks! And I like your way of thinking, too! The full post should go up this coming weekend...

  6. Wow, props on the heavy weapons team. I really like the way you actually made the ammo on the belts look like a shell casing with a projectile tip! (it's a pet peeve of mine when the ammo looks like one big brass rod...)

Also, I'm envious of your photo-fu. I need a better camera!

  7. Nice use of capsule bases there, proves there's more to em than just basing bikes.

  8. Thanks, guys!

    @ crusherjoe:
Thanks also for giving me a new phrase - I had to ask my wife about "props on" and I think I'll try to use it more in casual conversation!

Sadly, the hvy bolter team post is just a preliminary one...I'll try to get the full post up on the weekend, with some detail shots and natuarl lighting. As for the camera - it's a lovely model, but my hands shake a little, which really throws the macro focus. Also not very helpful for painting 28mm miniatures!

    @ sam-b:
"capsule bases"? - What are these things of which you speak? Can they be bought? After years of experimenting and brain-wracking I had to make these blasted bases (see 018 A/P Squad C [http://admiraldrax.blogspot.com/2008/06/018-ap-squad-c.html] for the details of how, courtesy of Col. Gravis) and it was at best a dull and arduous process!

    Cheers for stopping by!

  9. Here ya go Drax. I'll have to write a blog about how to include a link in a blogger comment one day...

    Drax's failed link.

  11. That base shape is commonly referred to as a capsule base, if you look it it from about with the long edge horizontal to you, it looks capsule shaped.

There was a guide to making them on GWs website a while back. I used em to base my bad moonz bikerz.

  12. Great looking teams mate! I don't understand where all our time goes... By the time work, sleep and food are out the way, there is no time to paint! Well done on completing these teams though, brilliant looking models.

  13. Thanks, Mate.

If Kate'll let me, I'll get the more detailed photos done this afternoon in the so-called sunlight. Ahh...Britain in July!

Oops. Bad internet code, sorry. Here's the link to that article."

Thanks for this, but y'know, every time I've tried this it just takes me back to GW's region-chooser homepage. Cheers anyway.
