165 Leman Russ Annihilator Finished

TOEMP Challenge 5 est fini!

Here is the first of my two Leman Russ Annihilators. I don't think I have a name for it yet; I guess I'm awaiting the Emperor's divine inspiration. That said, feel free to make suggestions:
As I tend to with my vehicles, I've left elements of its old (eBay) paint scheme on - it was very...er...yellow.
I haven't taken an awful lot of trouble over it: I wanted it done, and much of the detail is obscured from the old paint job.
All names gratefully considered - my others, for reference - can be seen here.

- Drax.

  1. For what you call a quick paintjob, it looks good to me.

  2. Because I am a physics nerd I would go with Feynman. Yay annihilation!

  3. I would call it:
    "the Emperor's divine inspiration."
    I think it fits!

  4. I agree with Ubberdorc, that kind of fits - see the emperor does move in mysterious ways :)

  5. Haha Ubberdorc and Tdubs seem to have a point, it does seem pretty fitting. The aquila on the rear of the turret is a really nice touch, and like ron said the paintjob looks good! The ranks of Drax's legion of painted troops grows again haha

  6. Thanks, All!

I should point out that the block colouring of the camo was already done at least.

Max: after a bit of wikiresearch - thanks! I assume you're familiar with the wonderful xkcd.com?

I'll also consider The Emperor's Divine Inspiration, although it's somewhat more wordy than I'd usually go for...

    Cheers!

    Artemis, Orthia, Aether?

  8. Looks awesome, Drax! I always liked the Annihilator variant, and yours is top notch!

For a name I always turn to the big list o' proto-gothic, so perhaps Exitim which means roughly Destruction/Ruination/Annihilation. I see you've gone with the gothic naming on several of the other tanks it seems.

    Keep up the great work!

  9. That should have said exitium. Missed a U there.

  12. The tank looks great! Another vehicle of destruction in the battle against the alien and the heretic.

  13. Since the main armament is lascannons which fire lasers, I'd go with a name with some reference to light in it. Light of Destruction or some such might be nice?

  14. I'd go for "Nietsche's Nihility" since its all about annililation .... ;-)

  15. Great paint job I have to say. You know that painting tutorial on your guard that you did a while back. Well I have to thank you for that too as it has inspired my friend Stu and he is going to give it a go!

  17. Just curious, what rules are you using to field such a beast? Is it in Imperial Armor or some such thing?

  18. @FoxPhoenix: It is indeed an IA vehicle - I downloaded the rules from FW when they used to post them on pdfs.

These days I cost it in line with the other Russes, which is (rightly) a little more pricey than it was before the new codex...but then again, BS3 lascannon aren't so useful in 5th Ed as once they were.

I think I cost the basic version at 150pts, plus hull/sponson upgrades.

NB: All my Russes are modelled with sponsons, but I don't always use them.
