448 - Bofors 40mm S-P W-i-P

Yay!

As a reward for all my work in my second job as an examiner this year: I bought myself a brace of Bofors, and (as the weather's actually dry enough to spray paint for once) I figured I'd quickly throw them together last night:
"Quickly"?

No. These little buggers are a fiddly pain. Still, I've done them now, and it just remains to paint them up - which, frankly, is unlikey to take too long as they're almost comically dull and simple: just the way I like it! Naturally, the barrels and sights are not attached yet, hence the droopy angles.

I've been wondering about whether or not to base them (with their gun commanders and No. 4 crewmen) but I figure they're a little more positionable without a large base, so I'll just wait until the peripheral bits start falling off them, I think, then it'll give them a litttle more longevity.

Other projects are not forgotten, and Hey! I'm off to see Zzzzzz this weekend! *smiles*

  2. Bofors are fiddly-arsed models to put together. Horrible even.

Not a fan of based vehicles, though with those loose crew....

    1. At the moment, I've stayed with them unbased, and I've popped the extra crew in each case on a small base - but with a view to rebase them when I get some large bases...

  5. Oh dear, Bofors guns... are your fingers still stuck together? :-) I don't generally like based vehicles, but they'd look good I think with the extra crew beside them. Cheers, Paul :-)

  6. Hmmm, they probably will be 'safer' on bases (less prone to taking damage). Tough call though.
I love 15mm. After painting 28mm it is a nice shake up. I really like the look of Flames of War but I reckon that the 28mm Bolt Action WW2 would be cool too.
Zzzzzz, I couldn't tempt Muppet to add to the FW order. The Force is too strong in this one. But.... my order is in :)
You guys will have to stand by to see what awesomeness the good Mr Zzzzzz and I have commandeered from FW!! It is big.;)

  7. Do it. Go Flames - it's sooo rewarding and expenditure is refreshingly finite too!
