'AFTER THE WAR'
- Regimental Mascot of 2/24th Cadian Light Infantry:
Here he is in his original incarnation, and post 298 saw some recent pictures of his real-life muse, Cadfael.
Please bear in mind that these models are old, my painting's improved since then(!) and that when Mrs. Drax made him, After the War* was never really degned to be in scale with the GW minis. Still, he's very, very dear to me, and I look forward to seeing him take the table once more!
Here's to the impending Third Century, eh?!
- Drax.
* His name is a reference to a song: if you don't get the reference but would like to, click here. It's an old Drax Family joke.
Love the idea, 3 different dog models arrived in the post today as I am also going to have accompanying dogs for platoon officers and hopefully, when i can find the right thing, some big models as guard dogs (count as bodyguards) for the command squad. Unfortunately I am not allowed a dog in real life and I think a cat on the battlefield wouldn't be quite the same!.....although tigers or lions with my Praetorians might be an idea actually! Its great to see little personal touches like this in peoples armies though.
ReplyDeleteWow, great idea! I miss the old 'trademark item' upgrade. For 10pts you could get a really broad upgrade that allows you to put characterful little additions to the models like that. Ah well, they were the days ...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments!
ReplyDeleteAs I type the dpg is snoring his head off on the sofa. He's miffed at me because rather than taking him for a walk in the daylight I went to the games club to photograph my IG in its entirety. Look out for it in Post 300!
Great to see him back in the army, no matter what he should grace the table for every outing of the Cadian 2/24th Light Infantry!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to 300
Thanks, mate - he'll be playing far more often now!
ReplyDeleteI love it! No better mascot than a corgi!
ReplyDeleteThank you, David - you're evidently a man who understands these noble beasts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for swinging my the blog too!
- D.
Although currently the wrong breed, perhaps you could persuade them to forever immortalise Cadfael...

THANKS FOR THE BRILLIANT LINK - and thanks for thinking of us!
ReplyDeleteCadfael the corgi's an incredible 16 years old now - a veritably venerable dreadnaught - so maybe immortalising him isn't such a bad idea...
...it'd make Mrs Drax very happy, that's for sure!
And as for basset hounds? Well, he has a bit of a soft spot for them...
Oh, and, er...watch this space - there may be a new corgi model incoming...
ReplyDeleteWell how could anyone forget Cadfael! 16 years, thats pretty incredible, make sure you look after him (and the little one of course).
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the new Cadfael!
