502 - And the Winner Is...

I'm on holiday, in a very well-appointed youth hostel in Bath(!) and as the internet access is better than at home(!!) and I'm babysitting two very-excitable-and-thankfully-now-very-asleep girls whilst my wife explores the city, I thought I'd blog a bit.

Well, after randomly generating a winner of my somewhat-lacklustre golden opportunity to win the chance to get one of your units painted by me, the 'lucky' winner is...
Da Masta Cheef!

Congratulations, Cheef! Check out his blog here: link and marvel at his characterful creations (Turns out that I don't visit nearly enough: I've realised that his is one of those blogs that has mysteriously dropped from my blogroll. Bugger. To be amended.)

Do please drop me an email, mate...

More to follow - I'll see if I can cue-up one or two, because there are exciting hobby times ahead for Drax...

Thanks for playing along at home,

- D.

  2. wish I'd seen this contest, I have plenty would be happy to have someone paint lol.
unfortunately I haven't been following blogger as much of late, similar lack of exuberance for GW related. I have branched out (figure wise at least) to malifaux and mercs and (figure and game wise) deadzone. Still like the specialist games and it looks like mantic is giving warhammer fantasy players a lifeline, but I am painting my 40k stuff just because ... I dunno - it hasn't moved unpainted so why not.

    1. Hey, Tristan - good to hear from you!

"The Old Order changeth," I suppose, "yeilding place to new." Still, I cut my teeth (and - all too frequently - the pad of my left thumb) with GW models, so it is hard to say goodbye completely...

    1. Surely 'Wheaton's Law' would apply here?!

Luckily, It would appear that Da Masta Chief is a proper gentleman.

    1. Although at the speed Drax paints you may not see them again for the next year or two. :P

    2. I agree with Dai!

(Besides, although I heartily respect Orks, I heartily cannot stand Skaven...so I would not do them justice.)

  9. 'ey Cheef, do you still have all those 2nd ed 40k grots? A unit of 30 of those would surely be a joy for the Admiral to paint. :)

    1. Do you mean those pickelhaube gretchin from the 2nd Ed box set? Wow! Would I have to paint their guns bright red, too?

That's be a particularly special (and fruitless) kind of a hell!

    2. Count yourself lucky then, as I used to have close to 130 of the little guys!

  11. No, Da Duvishun is back down to close to its original size. But I gave Drax 2 choices, of what he would like to paint, both of which are from Da Long Wayz Dezert Groop (well, what's left of it).

  12. Yeah, those grots! I tried to paint all 40 of mine back in the '90s, and only got half way through the lot of them. The desire to finish them has yet to return. LOL
